I started Piano Mundo with a deep, unwavering love for music and its power to transform lives. For me, teaching piano isn’t just a profession—it’s a calling and a privilege to share the joy, discipline, and creativity that music brings to our world.
Piano Mundo was founded with a simple but powerful mission: to make music accessible, inspiring, and meaningful for everyone who walks through our doors. From the very beginning, we’ve dedicated ourselves to nurturing not just skilled pianists, but confident, creative, and passionate individuals.
Along the way, I've met incredible students and families who share my belief that music can brighten lives, build character, and create lasting memories. Mitzi Ruttan is a retired Texas music educator and multi-instrumentalist who has taught students from preschool to high school since 1983. With a passion for inspiring beginners, she’s known for her patient, inclusive approach and her belief that piano is the foundation for all music learning. Mitzi has performed and accompanied musicals both locally and abroad, and she loves helping students of all ages discover the joy of music.
Louis San Miguel is a passionate pianist and nature educator from San Antonio whose musical journey began with a dream—literally. Inspired to pick up the piano after a vivid dream, Louis now shares his love for music with students of all ages. Currently studying at St. Mary’s University and performing with the Jazz Orchestra and Jazz Combo, he’s also been featured on TPR, KRTU, and at the Jazz’SAlive Festival. Louis believes learning music should be fun, playful, and transformative—empowering every student to discover their unique voice at the piano.
